Watched Bad trip. Yup slow start, bad ending with all the comedy gold seemingly coming in 15 minutes in the middle ( drunk in bar, ape, finger trap). Still worth a watch.

Are people winding me up about Bad Trip

Have you seen it?

Saw the first half but thought it was one of the worst things I have ever seen

Everything is the worst thing you’ve ever seen

I get it though. I am very susceptible to finding that, Borat, Impractical Jokers etc v funny because I am 9

I like those things but I thought this was just trying to be as crass as it csn and I found it really jarring

Don’t pre empt my Breaking Bad watch

I am now watching a video of Impractical Jokers most cringe.moments

I watched Apocalypse Now* again last night because I bought a cheap sound bar I wanted to try out by listening to lots of helicopters. Still such a spectacular film. I don’t really care that coherence is not one of its virtues, I just enjoy the sensory overload. And Harrison Ford playing George Lucas as well.

*1979 theatrical version, obviously. I’m not a deviant.

interesting how often you see people who look like the donkey from shrek. sign of a good character design imo

oh yeh he does. one thing i didn’t like was donkey becomes a horse and i was expecting him to
just become a really pretty donkey

I think I was one of the few that enjoyed Long Shot. I liked The Guilt Trip with Rogen too.

Thanks for the heads up about Love And Mercy. I’m a big Beach Boys fan and especially Pet Sounds. I didn’t realise that was on iPlayer.

No worries. Sounds like it will be more up your street than mine. Enjoy.

Watched Dredd last night. It was very good and reminded me of Verhoven quite a bit, probably mostly due to the practical effects. I cannot believe the drug they were using was just Cake from brass eye though.

It’s a pretty enjoyable watch as a Beach Boys fan. The Paul Dano bits are fantastic, nearly unbelievable he didn’t get an Oscar nom for his performance

Starting off April:

The American Friend :framed_picture: (Film 4) 3.5/5
First time with a Wenders film and was methodical to put it nicely. Lots of plotting and atmosphere setting up the truly grimy underworld. Kinda love that the violence was so raw and clumsy to the point of hilarity. It has such a strange energy and great varied soundtrack.

Eyes Wide Shut - definitely not a masterpiece but equally, not a bad film. I liked it but it’s a rare film where I think it would have worked better as a tv series. I think there is a lot that the film touches on which it never full goes into, which stops it from being great. Nicole Kidman’s part is quite underwritten and I would have liked to see more of her story. Enjoyed it overall

Demonlover - Connie Nielsen tries to manipulate things for her company so the new Hentai programme they have invested in is distributed by another company she is working under cover for, rather than the preferred choice of their rivals. Thought this was okay, quite slow though and as with Eyes Wide Shut, found there to be interesting ideas they don’t fully commit to. Directed by Oliver Assiyas so as with most his things, it’s quite divisive.
