The first bite of Tuna Nigiri - the sweet fish, the salt of soy sauce, the texture of lightly compacted sushi rice, the nasal rush of wasabi, the tangy crunch of pickled ginger…

Followed by a Chocolate Mochi.

What am I looking at here?

Black pudding, square sausage, potato scone/about 4500 calories. Worth it though.

Is it crispy duck pancakes? Think I’d go for that

Don’t mind the plastic sheeting, I’m a messy eater.

This has reminded me of some sushi I had that was blowtorched pacific saury with a yuzu sauce topping. Absolutely incredible, more or less started doing this in the restaurant.

Soggy, steamed puff pastry on a steak pie.

when you make a proper nice veggie lasagne, with a really flavoursome bechamel, and with blue cheese scattered on top, and you eat a piece with some of said cheese on, getting the creamy/saucy/tender/rich/chewy/crispy with that intense hit of blue cheese savoriness

when you’re eating chippy chips at the seaside and you get a clump of perfectly salt/vinegar seasoned chips with some crispy texture from the frying

In times of trouble I have always turned to McDonalds for sympathy, that first cheesy, meaty bite of a quarter pounder with cheese is always a balm to the soul.

This except curry sauce instead of vinegar.

you’re on holiday and you’ve been walking round a city looking at museums or whatever all day, its been really hot and you haven’t eaten anything since an early lunch. back to the hotel for a shower and a power nap, then spend a bit too long, but not much too long, looking for a place to eat. you end up in a really nice local place that’s got local charm and a bit of class but not too much class. The first sip of a crisp local white is pretty good but the first mouthful of some kind of salty, fatty starter is the best.
