Ignore @Gorkys_Forever; the man’s a loon
Common or North American?
Lesser Spotted
Good news everyone it just got up and started hopping along!
Beakless sparrow in the dead of night

You were only waiting to be misidentified
I reckon this whole thread was bollocks and that sparrow was fine all along
It’s not a sparrow
Bit hard to tell the size from the photo, but I reckon it’s either a wren or an enormous radioactively mutated kaiju type monster. Would you say it is a few inches across, or more like fifty feet?
it’s a wren. It probably flew into a window and stunned itself.
Looks like a baby robin to me. Quite early in the season but a lot of birds started nesting early this year. Glad it’s ok!

case closed
It looks like a juvenile blackbird to me.
Starlings have yellow beaks, and it looks too young and too big to be a wren.
EDIT: juvenile robin is a good shout, too
