just BOWIE CLUB for me this year so far
Same as
I’m in a “1001 albums before you die” group with some former colleagues. I’m not listening to all 1001 albums but it’s nice to dip in and out and hear some albums for the first time
None currently. I think I’m still recovering from the Guided By Voices one!
I’m in the half-heartedly going through my Spotify Release Radar while checking recs from three ATDs I’m in a WhatsApp group with.
Here are the most recent ones from that group
Bowie and C86 although have been a bit AWOL from the C86 one in recent weeks, sorry @richie
As well as the Bowie and C86 listening clubs I enjoy following the how good was the year? project.
I listen to What Is Music? (a music podcast about music) which caused my REM listening stats to look like this
No worries - some are more popular than others!
C86 to Britpop (86-94 indie albums!) is the only one I’m in seriously, but I did the majority of the Stereolab listening club and up for more.
Telling that you’ve barely went back to them
Up to fourth most listened to artist is enough for now
Just the Bowie one, and music league is basically a listening club. Sometimes involved in a non-DiS one.
Monthly album club as part of What is Music podcast
Just ML (now capping myself to 3 at a time, 2 preferred) and an obsessive pursuit of new releases, plus an occasional deep dive on a year if I feel like there’s time.
I was just about to post the exact same thing! ![]()
C86 to Britpop is the one for me. Even though I don’t get round to commenting enough.
I kind of read along with the Bowie one and have dipped my toe into a couple of the records but every time it just reinforces my belief that he never made an album that wasn’t unbelievably irritating in some way so I keep that to myself.
I’m also still not finished the Dylan one. I stalled around Under the Red Sky but I’ll get back to it any day now.
Just the Bowie club on DiS, currently, though I’m only commenting sporadically atm; I burned myself out a bit because I started writing fucking essay length analysis of Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardust and realised no one would actually want to read such indulgent nonsense. Instead I’m holding fire till we hit albums I have zero relationship with.
EDIT: now also the Boards of Canada listening club. Good work @Scagden
Not any more. Boards of CanINda
