In terms of places I’ve actually been and experienced the cuisine first-hand, Turkey wins hands-down. Perfect grilled meat and fish, plus an amazing galaxy of mezes - why have one starter when you can half-a-dozen of them, all light and healthy and bursting with flavour? Tunisia comes a close second in places I’ve been, and beyond that, I’d probably say Thailand, India and Italy.

Which nation has the best vegan cuisine? I often thought I could never focus enough to stop eating meat, but my mates’ vegan Indian and Thai curries are mindblowingly good.

A little spice goes a long, long way.

Potatoes are of course native first to Mexico

Spain’s pretty good, isn’t it? Paella and really good ham, plus cava, and other stuff.

Italy, though, obviously.

Literally anything good was just nicked from them
