3 episodes into s2 of American Vandal and it is fucking GREAT
I’m finding it such hard work to get through, since it’s so dark. We’ve taken to watching Norm Macdonald’s wacky talkshow afterward as a palate cleanser.
I never ended up finishing the first season of American Vandal but I’ve started watching the second one now. Just more of the same stupid stuff, but I like it.
not really a spoiler but you may be surprised
Also I really, really liked season 2 of American Vandal. There were so many weird little details that reminded me of being a teenager; Kevin McClain seemed something of a composite of me and my best friend from secondary school
ahah Just finished. You’re right. It ended up being a pretty original and up to date look at the experiences of, and pressures on young people. Lots of things most of us never lived in through in school but you hear about now. I’d have been happy to watch the show even without the Turdburgler silliness.
Has anyone watched Maniac yet? Would you recommend it?
I watched one episode but floated in and out of paying attention. It’s got an enjoyable strangeness and a farrr out look
so if you like a good #aesthetic.
I’ll keep watching but dunno if it’s gonna actually be good.
Watched two episodes last night. Quite enjoyed it but not sure how much of that is just because of the striking visuals and the fun of seeing Emma Stone play kerazy. It’s definitely more ‘fun’ than I expected overall.
Will keep watching!
I like it but it’s also a bit annoying. The worldbuilding in particular is really obnoxious. Look at this wacky ad buddy thing! Look at this doxxing shop! Look at this friend proxy thing! Look at this koala playing chess! Like cool your jets pal.

honestly think so much of American Vandal 2 is genius - the way it talks about being a kid in the social media age, it’s really really insightful whilst being really funny and completely stupid
I loved it, was somewhere between Inception and Eternal Sunshine for me. Emma Stone was great (particularly loved her as the drunk elf) and I think that’s the best bit of acting Jonah Hill I’ve seen him do (bit of a hot take but he’ll win best actor at the Oscars in the next 5 years).
I can see him winning an Oscar in that time, I think he’s excellent, and almost always steals any film he’s in.
Have watched two episodes of this, so far so good, I think it’s building nicely.
He has bee a two time Supporting Actor nominee, so I think you’re on target with that one tbqh
Watched half an hour of Maniac. That’s at least one pile of shite I won’t need to spend any more time on.
The first episode is basically setting things up, not sure how that could put someone off completely, I mean barely anything happens!
I’m enjoying Maniac so far. Seen two episodes.
Good performances and set up.
The world-uilding will either amuse and intrigue or put people off, I guess.
I’m in the former camp. It’s the right side of quirky for me but I can see that others won’t enjoy it.
Do all the episodes of maniac spend significant amounts of time in places like the 80s and does that stuff have a connection with the real world stuff? The 80s stuff didn’t really have anything to connect it to the real world unless it does and i didn’t realise?
just thinking that almost every series we’ve started watching on 'flix we’ve abandoned after a season or so, not necessarily cos we thought it was shit but just cos we never keep up with them. very weird this, wonder if this is common.
