Spent the last week watching The Crown. Wasn’t keen on the first few eps of Series 1 but stuck with it and the first season slowly became better, quite enjoyable, if not something I’d recommend specifically.
I’m finding the second season more interesting though. Episode 6 is really excellent - great acting from Claire Foy and Alex Jennings, and the plotline feels so relevant (it’s all about Edward VIII’s association with Hitler/Nazi sympathies). Good episode review here if you don’t want to watch it: http://www.vulture.com/2017/12/the-crown-recap-season-2-episode-6.html
Also Princess Margaret’s photographer boyf is quite sexy.
[Although in principle I totally oppose the monarchy, in practice it’s not something I can get riled up about unless monarchists are frothing at the mouth about DUTY and HONOUR and other guff. To me, the Queen as she is in old age bore quite a resemblance to my nan, so I have always felt an irrational and sentimental fondness for her as a result - especially since my nan died.]
