What was number 1 on every year for your birthday?

So having hit a significant milestone today and being the music nerdy type I am I thought I’d look back at all the songs that were Number 1 on my various birthdays. Wow. It was a mixed bag to say the least.

Some absolute stinkers, including two of the worst covers of all time (Atomic Kitten ‘The Tide Is High’ and A1 ‘Take On Me’).

But also some crackers. Here’s my favourites.

Rick Astley-Never Gonna Give You Up
Black Box-Ride On Time
Snap-Rhythm Is A Dancer
Culture Beat-Mr. Vain
Elton John-Are You Ready For Love
Gorillaz-Dare
Justin Timberlake-Sexyback
Dizzee Rascal-Holiday
Justin Bieber-What Do You Mean?

The rest are average or forgettable :joy:

Mine being in March means loads of them are awful Comic Releif related charity singles.

I’m on the run up the Christmas so a lot of shite including the eponymous debut single from Mr Bobby, Tellytubbies say Eh Oh and Peter Kay’s all-star band.

…and whilst we’re there can we have mother’s maiden name, primary school and name of first pet?

This was number one when I arrived in the world and I’m always happy with it…

What can I say, I’m a nerd. Just think it’s an interesting cultural experiment. And what is a forum without pointless questions such as this one?

You’ve just rekindled memories of Girls Aloud and Sugababes murdering ‘Walk This Way.’ And their collaboration should have been so cool!

The originals of course. One of the tragedies of the UK charts is that A1’s version of Take On Me was number 1 and A-Ha’s wasn’t!

How?

Good thread. I’ll go for the 90s ones:

Partners In Kryme - Turtle Power
Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You
Snap! - Rhythm Is A Dancer
Take That - Pray
Wet Wet Wet - Love Is All Around
Take That - Never Forget
Spice Girls - Wannabe
Puff Daddy and Faith Evans ft 112 - I’ll Be Missing You
Spice Girls - Viva Forever
Ronan Keating - When You Say Nothing At All

What a bunch of stinkers :grinning: (Turtle Power excepted)

Just looked through all mine and noticed that both of Celine Dion’s uk number ones were at number one on my birthday. Make of that what you will

Ah, the ‘summer baby’ double

Not enough space to list them all

My best ones (of the songs I actually know)

Blondie - Tide is High
Eddy Grant - I don’t wanna dance
Chaka Khan - I feel for you
Charles & Eddie - Would I lie to you?
Madonna - Hung Up

Had no idea Billy Connolly released records but apparently he had a no 1 called Divorce. Presumably hilarious
