Let’s do top 3s from 15 years ago. I’ll start:
- Autolux - Future Perfect
- PJ Harvey - Uh Huh Her
- Sonic Youth - Sonic Nurse
Join me for Drowned in Sound’s monthly Soho Radio show on Monday from 4pm BST celebrating 15 years since Arcade Fire released Funeral and pondering why it was such a pivotal year for music. Plus lotsa 2004 gems. sohoradiolondon.com
Absolutely no idea how I’m going to fit all of this into 2 hours and there’s still loads missing https://open.spotify.com/user/seaninsound/playlist/08xDinAZgUr5t5mvye8qDT?si=rUQ3GZZsT1u5T_i0ESfWww
As the roots undo by circle takes the square.
That’s a fairly easy one because it’s the best record ever released.
Good year. Just want to shout for The Lost Riots by Hope of the States
Best opening track of that year for sure.
I don’t really care about the polyphonic spree, but those first two are sensational. Good picks.
I was torn between them, Arcade Fire and Real Tuesday Weld as my third pick, but I saw TPS so many times live playing that album and just loved every single time. Can appreciate they’re not for everyone though!
Think I’d go with:
Elliott Smith - From a Basement on the Hill
Bjork - Medulla
Electrelane - The Power Out.
2007 me thought it was this lot…
Happy with that tbh
Funkhouser got the right answer.
It’s okay to close the thread now
Isis - Panopticon
Mastodon - Leviathan
that’s as much thought as I’ve put in so far
some good albums that year!
no-one is going to be brave enough to give the correct answer. so i will
Ah shit was The Go! Team 2004? That goes in ahead of Kanye on my list then.
Wilco - A Ghost Is Born
The Concretes - s/t
Max Richter - The Blue Notebooks
Anniemal - Annie
You are the quarry - Morrissey
