I don’t recall! I know Mark Williams asked to stop being called ‘The Welsh Potting Machine’ but that may have been pre-Rob Walker (MC Alan Hughes represent).

Regardless of what Selby’s nickname is, I note he’s still using Kasabian as his walk on music. Which is a touch… iffy.

That’s true. But I’ll tell you what this fortnight he has been a voracious consumer of all opponents. He’s just dismantling everyone. He’s going to take Stuart Bingham apart piece by piece.

A few years ago I might have suggested a Selby vs. Murphy final as a truly torturous affair. However this year I feel it would be compelling viewing.

I’ve watched quite a bit of the last couple of days, and my impression is that most of the players seem to be really struggling with the table. The last few frames of Selby v Williams it was definitely Williams donating, with Selby looking to my mind pretty average, which was all he needed. It was intensely irritating to hear Doherty and AN Other (McManus?) just chitchatting over the frames as Selby increasingly ran himself out of position on his breaks.

Not seen any of Wilson. I think I’ll be rooting for him, failing that Bingham for the lols.
