I’m terrible at learning things, I learn enough to dabble but then lose interest, I dabble at piano, drums and mandolin, can’t seem to master anything, soon plan to dabble at double bass. piano is the worse i’ve gone too far with my dabbling that I think it would actually be hard to learn to play properly, so I am stuck with just the white keys and not using my thumbs

Teaching myself a few technical things. I work in IT and use C# WPF etc. but I am a little light on some of the funky web stuff. So revamping my GFs website and using VUE.js, WebAPI etc. I am finding it hard as it’s a bit dull, and it’s what I do all day anyway. So yesterday I was battling with HTML tags from 6-10 AM.

I am also ‘playing’ with Unity to try and learn how to develop Virtual Reality apps. More fun, but again…it’s quite technical.

My German teacher thought I had an aptitude for languages, so I would love to pick one up again.

It’s this one. It’s actually 3 books (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) so there’s enough to keep you going for ages. I’ve been playing guitar for years, but I even found the opening chapters about building chords useful after only every really playing open and barre chords.

I also got this which has some nice solo guitar arrangements of jazz standards.

I got both of them cheaper than the price on those amazon links, I think from eBay.

60 notes an hour is a lot, but you might not need that many lessons. If you can play a bit already you could just get one or two lessons to get some feedback in your technique and give you a couple of things to work on, then see how far you can get with that and YouTube tutorials, and maybe go back to the tutor for another push some time down the line if/when you start to stagnate.

Almost bought myself a loom not that long ago. Also learned macrame last summer. Next? Whoooo knows!! (I don’t have anything lined up at the mo… maybe some kind of animation programme, what’s best for that?)

I’m learning how Reaper works. Also VBA for excel. Also how to talk to people and not feel like my stomach is about suddenly fall out. Slow progress on all 3 tbh.

Update. My peripatetic percussion teacher says it’ll be great for me to learn to play along to some bass lines rather than the metronome so I should loop some and play along.

I am now learning the bass.
