Had a heated discussion with Wor Lass about whether I need to do shopping today. Her argument changed quite dramatically from not wanting to eat butternut squash again this week* to us having plenty of tinned food (specifically veg)* to last the week.

*There’s half a butternut in the fridge that I suggested making into soup.
**We have tinned tomatoes and tinned beans. Both of these have been ingredients we’ve used a few times this week.

She doesn’t do the shopping and I’m the one who will be standing in the queue outside the supermarket when I eventually go.

I do this, but when I skim back with a vague idea of where a passage I’m looking for is, I’m always disappointed and a bit confused to find I was totally wrong about where it was

I find I’m much less likely to finish a book on Kindle. It somehow seems less important than a physical one. And the number of pages left varies depending on how big you have the text, which is confusing. Whereas with a physical book a page is a page, so if you’ve only got 20 to go you can usually push through to the end.

Books are my final holdout against digitisation. Everything else I’m fine with digital versions, though I still buy vinyl versions of the best 10 or so albums of each year.

Out on a lovely big walk with my daughter. The amount of birdsong is so so lovely. The river Itchen is dead clear and we’ve seen some trout. Good wildlife day
