What's the bleakest shop?

[joke about cheap meat]

Seriously, though, this is a new one on me. I assumed most porn shops had long shut, but now they’re… at the side of A-roads?

Old, independent department stores that haven’t been refurbished in decades are always pretty bleak.

I’ve passed them in Essex and Lincolnshire. There must be others

There’s one on the A1(m) southbound from Sheffield, or so I’ve read

Yep, bleak

Only exist to rinse money out of poor people now. Especially the ones with FOBTs in store.

I hope that doesn’t happen in this thread

theyre always just like paper shops when you go in tho, so theyre fine

Not a specific shop

But you know when you go in a “nice” independent shop or cafe that was clearly someone’s pride and joy for a bit, but it’s not doing that well and there’s hardly any stock and everything’s been reduced 3 times already

Bleak

PC World. Oppressively beige, staff properly miserable, loads of screens on at once. Vile places.

“Croydon Village Outlet” which is on the site of the old Allders department store.

Extremely bleak and rundown, and before anyone says it so is Croydon town centre as a whole.

Hopefully the Whitgift is being demolished this year to make way for a Westfield.

Allders used to be iconic, it’s a shame to see it in such a state.

Great shout

The Works always depresses me - piles of failed recipe books, autobiographies, Star Wars encyclopaedias and random stationery

Hate it when a cafe has just closed down, and it’s obvious that it’s been really sudden because the tables are still set.

Not sure bleak is the word but I went to an apple shop for the first time a few weeks ago and it made me so, so, so angry

Halfords is alright. The one nearest me is anyway - they have an incredibly cheerful and helpful bunch of staff that patiently indulge my complete lack of car knowledge.

It’s probably the Apple store for me. Not so much shops as churches for tech bros to worship at the alter of innovation and hope to soak up The Future by osmosis. Sinister.
