What's the point in getting individual guitar pedals?

When the Boss GT-3 already has it all?

Multi-effects > Single-effects. The clue is in the name.

I would like a proper answer to this please.

you only really need an overdrive and fuzz pedal, everything else sounds better added in the studio afterwards really

“yeah i just use the distortion and delay pedals mostly”

pedals are a pain I think, I rarely twiddle with mine, I want to be playing the guitar not twiddling the knobs

See, I want to be twiddling the knobs not playing the guitar (but only because I can’t play guitar very well)

is there an envelope triggered tape like vibrato on that thing?

A cheaper/space-saving way of indulging the collector impulse when compared to guitars or amps.

Plus some are really colourful oooh shiny

yeah that’s true, don’t really notice missing reverb or delay when I’m playing though

someone hsould make a really awesome pedal board that you can slot all the pedals in perfectly and it looks dead sexy instead of all pedal boards ever that look like shit and have wires everywhere

multifx are just pretty limiting, if you can afford to buy individual pedals you’re only limited by your budget and imagination in terms of the combination of sounds you can create

Too complicated for me.

I would suggest that some effects aren’t very musical, for want of a better word, and as such it’s hard to fit them into songs.

Loads of pedals would stress me out. My scant set up gets me a bit edgy at the amount of cables and it’s wicked minimal as it is

Absolutely. I’ve used the same four bass pedals for years but as soon as I go to guitar and start using other pedals I’m all over the place. I find that I’m still exploring the nuances of my bass setup but with guitar I’m still searching for something that sounds good.

Single pedals >>>>>multi effects from my very limited experience as its just more fun and I find it easier to think about combining sounds that way. Like cool there’s some fuzz and then and then some delay but if I plug it in the other way it’s delay into fuzz and IT SOUNDS SO DIFFERENT and I can just thrash around wildly with a stupid grin and ignore the fact that I only know how to play 5ths

Not like you to get so passionate and worked up about things.

For playing at home and recording: individual pedals tweaked endlessly.

For gigging: multifx every time.
