Nah, I’ll stand up for Series VII. It’s a definite drop in quality, but still funny in places. VIII onwards is beyond redemption.

I’ll also stand up for Series I, which although it gets a lot of flak, I find hugely funny and woefully underrated. I -love- Cat when he’s acting like an actual cat. “That’s mine, this is mine, all of this is mine…”

I once read an interview with Simon Pegg in which he said that Spaced was very much a response to Game On and how he simply didn’t feel like it spoke to anyone of his age. I felt a bit rubbish reading it because I quite liked Game On when it aired (and it’s theme).

All I remember about Game On is Ben Chaplin leaving the show to go to Hollywood and then he was in The Thin Red Line and some romcom with Uma Thurman.

i concur. series 2-6 has some of the most inventive sci-fi writing, that is also funny. very few shows have that

So wrong.

Saw 5 minutes of not going out earlier cause my hands were to oily to change the remote while I was working on my bike. Utter, utter tripe

Just gonna use this thread to list a few comedies I remember from the past. Not saying they were bad or anything.

The high life.
The funky squad.
Sunnyside farm.
Pete versus life.

Married With Children is probably #problematic now (and even was back then), but even then there’s no way it’s anywhere near TBBT, etc.'s awfulness.

big bang theory is on so much that it’s impossible to have not seen some it

that video upthread of it with no laughter track is incredible - there’s multiple points where there’s a gap implying laughter but i was absolutely sure that the preceeding line wasn’t actually a joke

The friend I mentioned above who owns Game On and The Thin Blue Line on DVD also owns two copies of The High Life on DVD. :grinning:

The fast show says otherwise

And that’s just the opening credits, so…

I can remember a few too many of those lyrics. Only other thing I can remember is they had a ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ episode - presumably because it worked alright for Father Ted.

Just had a look and it turns out ‘the guy who isn’t Alan Cumming’ was in the last series of Catastrophe? May have to watch that again.

I vaguely remember this show being shite so thought I’d watch the first episode to remind myself. Only managed 5 mins.

Weirdly, I’m almost positive Chris Morris is an extra in the opening scene reading a paper and sporting an almost Ted Maul style wig.

Am I going crazy or is that him?

Just googled this and it is indeed marvelous. The pauses are quite creepy, reminded me of Twin Peaks. TBBT is horrendous mainly because it’s one not very funny joke repeated over a seemingly infinite number of episodes. Very depressing that something like that has become so incredibly popular.

I’ve a lot of time for DK tbf
