THERE GOES A TENNER
HEY LOOK THERE’S A FIVER
The democratic will of the Irish people to nominate Kate Bush must be respected.
I don’t think my selections have ever fared as well as this. And I didn’t even vote for any of the big hits.
Wow, surprised to see Army Dreamers down this low.
I didn’t vote because I just don’t really know a lot of her work but that’s definitely one I like.
You could have voted for it!
Yeah I just don’t feel so good when I enter one of these only knowing a couple of songs well or whatever. Feels like it should be for the people who consider themselves fans to a larger degree or something.
Very nearly voted for There Goes a Tenner, but didn’t. Great story.
Similar here, but voted anyway. Big chunks in her discography that I don’t know well (or at all), but it’s nice to vote for things. And the song I gave most points to is one I think of as being an absolute all timer.
THAT. IS. A. DISGRACE.
I figure there’s always going to be artists people are more or less familiar with - imho it’s good to have everyone voting even when they’re not massive fans, as it (A) gives you a chance to listen to stuff from the first thread, and (B) makes it more “representative” overall - especially once you’ve got these for lots of artists.
That was my logic for the Nirvana one, anyway
oh you’re a Nirvana fan? name three songs
For the record:
This Woman’s Work - 5
Moments of Pleasure - 5
Same, I was joking when I kind of suggested it in the vote thread. She has some genuine timeless songs of completely unique quality. I remember when There Goes A Tenner was released and even at 12 years old being completely astounded that the single was so bizarre and nothing like as weighty and towering as the previous hit songs.
It didn’t chart and was to be found in many bargain bins, but it’s so wacky that it’s secretly one of her best ever songs.
Yeah but there’s every chance I would feel like I needed to give Running Up That Hill the most points and no one needs that.
I wonder simply vote for the songs you like the best
That’s fine, too, it’s a great song
