No, not really.
All versions of the same song being included in one makes this nigh on impossible, so iām out.
Plus I hate most Christmas music. Worked in a Christmas decs department for 4 months one year in my early 20ās and being subjected to Christmas music that whole time ruined most of it for me.
I can, however, listen to various jazz covers of some classics as long as they either barely sound like the originalā¦
Or are done on a hammond organā¦
I really thought I had my whole Christmas playlist worked out, but you lot have just given me a bunch of new ones to get hold of!
Iāll recommend this one
Always glad to hear some of the usual suspects like Fairytale and Last Christmas, if River counts that will take all my points because itās the best.
Most lovely and purely Christmas song I would say is this and if you hate the sound of children singing the instrumental is so, so gentle.
Nothing lovely or pure about this
I donāt really know why the Nutcracker is so linked to Christmas tbh but this sounds so slinky and reeks of booze
some quite sweet blasphemy
ā¦ and a song of devotion. Listen to this, itāll blow your socks off
ah I love this, the strings at the start, the gentle doo wop rhythm and that warbly vocal sample that comes in and stays, it all sounds big and Christmassy but not in a brash way
Thereās a strain of kitsch Christmas stuff I like, the Toshiba Singing Angels probably come under that umbrella but I think itās delightful
The snow is falling down
Gets colder day by day
I miss you
oof, what a song
Poor Maddy and Co done by Partridge. She did 2 (think 2) albums of Christmas/Wassail songs about 25 years ago that was good, saw the show with some Silly Sisters thrown in when I was a kid.
ā¦or possibly the original
Shame there isnāt a definitive recording really. Can we vote for carols?
Think Iām going to struggle with this. I donāt want to view for just any version of āGod Rest Ye Merry Gentlemenā, i want to vote for the 8 and a half minute drone metal version of āGod Rest Ye Merry Gentlemenā
Going to Kingmaker Michael Bubleās - All I Want For Christmas Is You
itās no Santa Buddy (No Homo)

For similar reasons Walking in the Air by Oceansize has not received any of my votes. Itās so wonderfully icy and wintry though.
Had word from @Funkhouser that there are no indie points up for grabs here so you can all stop pretending that the likes of Shakin Stevens or Slade arenāt the best. Cheers
