Let’s delete everything every new FY. Perfect

Thanks, really what I wanted to hear.

Considering how much traffic the forums bring in from search engines, that’s quite a ridiculous statement TBH but keep making assumptions, it’s really helpful.

Here’s a quick note from me but I’ll write something proper at the weekend https://www.facebook.com/drownedinsounduk/posts/10156887425648145

uhh what, talking about the music board

pretty gutting tbh - been a member on the boards since I was…15, and am 28 now. remember the site really fondly and would read the reviews and buy music on its recommendations when I could afford to do so.

hopefully the boards remain, but mega sad to see the site go if that’s the case, even though I can see why it might have to.

So out of order. Be a bit more sensitive, please. This is a tough day for Sean and many others who care about the site.

Nice

I think what eric was saying, quite reasonably imo, was that if the social board existed completely independently of DiS, it would over time slow down and die because the opportunity for new people to join would reduce to nothing. I don’t think it was a comment on the quality of the DiS editorial site or music board or whatever else.

…nope…?

Then you can say the same to sean. Would be interesting to see you talk to him with the same sarcastic, narcissistic tone…

It’s the quality of our threads that bring in new users.

Oh right. Fair point, I suppose. But I don’t think Sean has said anything about shutting down the entire site. There’ll still be some music connection, both in terms of the forum and social media stuff (as I understand it).

we ought to mobilise our contacts from something awful and have them bring in a host of other likeminded MLMs. gentlemen it is time to post.

The website is going. Some blogs will remain on Medium, and there will still be a social media presence, but the site’s going. Forums staying.

So where will the forum be hosted?

Here, on Discourse.

Edit: I assume, as Sean said upthread that as it’s costing $300/month, DiS is on the “hosted by Discourse” option, but I might be wrong?

Eric has a valid point.

However, if sean had a URL link from the DiS twitter, Facebook, Instagram and blogs directly to the forums it will give an access point.

Also I like the idea of having a “Music Review” sub forum, where reviews could just be posted directly into the forum (perhaps limiting new posts to certain users so we don’t just JAGs, but everyone can comment). We can even embed images and videos nowadays. I admit I don’t go to the main DiS site much anymore, but if reviews were on the forums, I’d read them and interact more.

Sean could link directly to reviews he likes on the forum from twitter etc.

Correct. Donations keeping it alive.

And a link to all of the above from the forums
