Just tried to login to check for the first time in about 7 years.

Can’t remember any of my details and my secret question is this:

no doubt the house buying thread makes people think DiSers are more privileged than the average british young person* but the replies to this thread so far have surprised me. i owe about £25k having left uni with about £25k debt even though i’ve been earning over the £15k threshold for a bit over 5 years now

*british young person = under 40

omg I managed to login

(I’m only at £0 because I dropped out after a year)

well?

A combination of things (including those who went to uni pre-fees or on low fees), but from memory when we last had a salary thread it was pretty obvious that DiSsers are on average earning quite a bit more than the UK average (albeit there’s a wide spread).

well yeah, the £55k sign-up bonus helps with that, though.

Borrowed about £27k, think it dipped below £20k earlier this year. I graduated 7 years ago and have been earning comfortably above the threshold ever since. Such a bunch of shit.

Just checked and it’s worse than I thought: £21k!

Just got myself an extra £3k in debt live on drownedinsound.com fucking hell

Just looked

£25,405.74

I borrowed about £26k

lol

Just tried getting in to mine. Cant. Irked

Yeah, the same. The idiots kept taking the money after I’d paid it off, so I didn’t realise until I got the next statement. Did get a rebate in the end, mind.

Paid mine, mine was from the £3k a year era

Since graduating in 2007, I’ve got about 4k left to pay off, which will be gone in the next few years.

The TV has something like 22k left, no chance she’ll be clearing all that

Serious question: Does this stress you out?

I feel like this would really stress me out!

Nope. It comes out of my salary automatically so I don’t have to do anything. I get a statement through the post once a year, literally the only time I think about it.

So I’ve just looked at my statement from last year and I apparently didn’t pay anything off, though the money has been coming out of my monthly salary. Who’s fucked me here? SLC, HMRC or my employer? Have been at the same place for 4 years so no idea what’s going on.
