What's Your Top 3?: B-sides & rarities albums

I didn’t even realise New Moon was a rarities album of Elliott Smith, I had it in my mind it was an unreleased album being worked on before his death. Sign of a good compilation when it fits together well as an album proper.

The post hommus one was from basement to a hill which was finished up after his death

New moon qas unreleased material over a 5 year period

Ah I wish I’d thought of The Pogues one, that version of Maggie May is just the drunkest best thing ever

Built To Spill - The Normal Years
Palace Music - Lost Blues and Other Songs
Stereolab - Refried Ectoplasm

How are we allowing ‘Push Barman to Open Old Wounds’ and not ‘The 3 EPs’? They’re both just collections of each band’s singles/EPs??

Because I chose one of them and not the other

Ice Cube - B-sides and bootlegs.
Swervedriver - Juggernaut rides.
Arthur Russell - every album that wasnt an official release.

i’m going with

low - a lifetime of temporary relief
mclusky - mcluskyism
tortoise - a lazarus taxon

(hon mention for we are scientists - crap attack - some of the b-sides from that first album were better than a couple of the songs that made it on to the album)
