No over-thinking, no spreadsheets, no calculations, just hit me with a top 3 for each topic on instinct alone.
Born To Run - Springsteen
Things The Grandchildren Should Know - Mark Oliver Everett
Clothes, Clothes, Clothes. Music, Music, Music. Boys, Boys, Boys - Viv Albertine
Mark Lanegan - Sing Backwards and Weep
Sinead O’Connor - Rememberings
Miki Berenyi - Fingers Crossed
(Have only just read the latter 2 of these, so probably recency bias).
Edit: Updating this because in my desire to follow the rules and not overthink it, I accidentally underthought and forgot my favourite musician/author:
Kristin Hersh - Don’t Suck, Don’t Die: Giving Up Vic Chesnutt
Kristin Hersh - Paradoxical Undressing / Rat Girl
Mark Lanegan - Sing Backwards and Weep
My sister loved Crying in H Mart and she had never listened to Japanese Breakfast before reading it, which I am using as evidence that it is an actually good book and I’m not just biased.
Simon Price - Everything: A Book About Manic Street Preachers
Stuart David - In The All Night Cafe: A Memoir Of Belle And Sebastian’s Formative Year
Jarvis Cocker - Good Pop Bad Pop
Massively feel like I’m forgetting something though
Just Kids by Patti Smith and Hunger Makes Me A Modern Girl by Carrie Brownstein are the only two that I’ve read and thought were actually good books, but maybe I’m not reading enough. Could see myself enjoying the Michelle Zauner and Brian Wilson ones.
