The assassination of Yitzhak Rabin back in '95 takes some beating, considering what it ushered in - death of the Oslo Accord, 25 years of right-wing politics, second intifada etc. Remember watching it on TV (other than 9/11, the most shocking thing I’ve ever seen live on TV) and even at such a young age I was aware of an ominous foreboding descending.
