When is a good time to go to bed?

giving this a try, seems very yellow!

Its really obvious when you suddenly turn it on but if you leave it running in the background it slowly creeps on and you hardly notice it

My sleeping has always ways been really fucked. If im not working will struggle to get up before midday. Used to miss classes at school always stroll in late because of it.

When I’ve had jobs with 9am starts they would completely destroy me. Would still struggle to get to sleep before 2/3am and just completely crash on my days off as i end up running on far too little sleep. I now just try to make sure I’m applying for evening or even night shifts. But this is having a really bad impact on my social life.

When you feel tired/relaxed enough to sleep

It depends on your age as you need less sleep when you get older

I try to get into bed about 9:30 then lights out at 10:30
I wake up at 7am, still knackered mind.

I woke up at 6:30 on Saturday morning no problem which always pisses me off.

Sleep hygiene is the key! I have been massively slacking by watching tv til I fall to sleep and I feel far less rested than if I’d read a book before bed.

@Bamnan - I read somewhere that your sleep routine is the important thing. If you can get yourself into the habit of getting up at a regular time (and sticking to it), you’ll feel benefits.

I go to bed at 5 (but I’m living with my parents in a weird extended childhood as an external student)

absolutely this. once you get used to flux and you turn it off you realise just how bright your laptop screen is

Flux for Android looks to be for rooted devices only, so I’m giving Twilight a go as an alternative. Yeah, the blue light reduction seems calmer.

Hang on, hang on. I’m not on tellyinbedroombook and I demand a recount!

Going to bed and reading - aye, that’s Going To Bed. Fair enough.

Being in bed and watching telly - really doesn’t feel like that should count as Going To Bed.

Why not?

You’re still getting in bed and unwinding ready to sleep.

you got 24h in a day: 8 for working, 8 for sleeping, 8 for yourself

This time last year I was the designer at a casino/poker hall. Hours were 12-8, but flexible (so I could rock up at 2 and leave at 10, etc.). I felt great the whole time, as it fit much better with the times I naturally wanted to sleep. Loved it. Then they made me redundant.

I tend to get to bed too late as I’m not tired enough, or feel like I should be doing something productive. When I do go, I tend to fall straight to sleep, as being in bed when I’m not tired gets me really stressed leading to even smaller likelihood of sleep happening.

Gotta get up at 6 in the pissing morning these days for work so that’s fun. Used to enjoy a midnight bedtime but none of that lark at the moment regrettably.

Do you need less sleep or does your body just get rubbish at giving you the sleep you need? I remember my grandparents got up early like me but they also had an afternoon nap for a few hours where I had to entertain myself. And they didn’t really do a lot of energetic stuff so there’s that too?
