Please tell me she just said ‘Chico time’ and hung up

All my clocks update autimatically, which then leads to me waking up and then being unsure if they have changed or not and I spend about an hour trying to work out what the time actually is.

…by which time you’ve wasted the “extra” hour that you had.

The Guardian has excelled itself again

Either that, or I’ve slept through the winter.

I remember booking a taxi to take me to a shift at a different shop when I worked at the bookies and ringing the company to complain that my taxi hadn’t arrived and that I was going to be late.

The taxi woman laughed at me an said, “Yeah, the clocks went back yesterday - the taxi will be with you in about 45minutes.”

Until I’ve figured out this clocks situation, I know I am not a true grown-up.

This year’s confusion; say you work a night shift. Say you finish at 3am. Do you work an hour more or less in autumn? It’s blowing my mind.

Some time ago (four and a half years) I was in New York on my own when they changed their clocks, and had no idea. Could well have missed my flight, but on the Sunday morning as I packed I turned on the telly, and there was a Blackburn game on, and there was a close shot of Steve Kean tapping his watch, and for some reason that made me check the actual time, and i made the flight with room to spare. So if you’re reading, Steve, it wasn’t all for nothing.

I don’t trust technology, I always have at least one I need to manually update just to make sure. I actually think I have around 4 to manually change now which is a bit of a ballache.

Quite like a clock on the wall, too. Makes a nice feature.

Love a good wall clock. Wall stuff are the accessories to make a room feel put together and grown up I think; clocks, lamps, mirrors, prints.

I started at 2, just finished changing them all now. I really need to get rid of a few of them.

I’d just like to report that for the first time post-parenthood, I actually got a proper hour extra in bed! I mean, I still woke up just before 7 but still. I’m counting that as a victory, and hopefully encouragement to the sleep-deprived parents on here.

Ah, very nice! The kid actually slept an extra hour here, which would have been great but I woke up early anyway. The extra sleep for him as well will probably mean a struggle at nap time too :persevere:

Whenever my birthday falls on a Sunday it is always the one when the clock goes forward. I must have lost about 3 hours of birthday over the years.

So jealous of the October babies with their 25 hour ones.

woke up an hour later than I was supposed to today…

It would be an hour more if your employer was mean about it and insisted you work till new 3am.

Got a taxi home about 1am on Sunday morning, and engaged the driver in standard taxi chat. Asked him if he was working an hour longer that night due to the clocks going back.

“No, I’ll just work until 6 as usual.”

They did!

I hope you get paid by the hour and/or overtime!
