Haha, probably true, but us Red Rose folk have to try very hard to pretend it does because since Manchester, Liverpool etc got lopped off us in the 70s, no other countries care about us enough to be a rival.

Had a great time visiting a friend there two years ago, and the free tapas were absolutely phenomenal.

Didn’t get the chance to go inside the Alhambra but it didn’t bother me too much as people have told me it’s overrated, no more spectacular than a run-of-the-mill castle in England or Scotland.

I went to Carceres in Extremadura and had a lovely old time, might be to do with the fact I ate at Atrio mind you.

Aye, Mallorca is fine, but ‘full of Brits’ is a very strong starting point for anyone who wants to argue otherwise.

Yeah, in the tourist towns, but you can say that of Spain more broadly though that’s like the whole of the UK being judged on Blackpool or something. The scenery and difference between each town is extraordinary, I also love Palma despite the proximity to those tourist traps.

Right up in the north east corner of Spain is lovely - Figueres and north of there. It’s the foothills of the Pyrenees and where they meet the sea, and it’s wonderful.
