I used to play Magic: the Gathering there. What a dork.
It’s hard to think of any good border changes. Maybe removal of the borders within Germany?
The one that irks me most is Warrington moving from Lancashire to Cheshire in 1974.
I have a story relating to a Border. Last year we were staying near Marbella in Spain. We had a hire car and thought we drive to the border of Gibraltar park the car and have a mooch around the rock. We followed the signs to this car park near the border then joined the queue to enter the car park. However we must have gone wrong somewhere. Because next thing we are in a queue of traffic and a Spanish police officer was checking our passports. My wife said is this way to the car park for gibraltar. The police man said no. You’re in Gibraltar! If you don’t want to bring your car in you have to turn left and go back into spain! We found the car park eventually. Interesting thing about Gibraltar is that when you go through the border you have to walk across the Gibraltar runway to reach the country itself. Obviously this is strictly controlled.
Don’t even know what this refers to but I like it.
