I heard the radio show (or rather the LP cast re-recording of the radio show) before I ever read the book.

I think it really does work best as a radio show. The books are fine but a lot of the delivery and weirdness is wrapped up in the original form, maybe?

I have a feeling it’s very hard to get hold of now. It’s also confused by there being audiobook versions of the books that I keep finding when I try to Google.

Reckon it probably influenced my sense of humour an inordinate amount when I was 10 (or sutin) and read it, so I imagine it’d get annoying if I were to read it now.

I refused to go to see Home Alone at the cinema when my mum said she’d take me, because I thought it sounded too scary. I was seven.

The comedian. I think that’s Hawks but honestly I don’t know which name is for which still.

I’ve got cassette box set of the radio show somewhere covering the first two books I think. It really is very good. And the original tv series was good too (that I remember) and felt closer to the radio show than the book

The first two books are IIRC roughly episodes 1-8 and 12 of the original run. The stuff in the later half of the second series was never used elsewhere, which is odd.

Ah yes I remember there being stuff that was only on the tapes

I’ve probably shared this before, but I have memories of being in school and singing “Come Baby Come” to myself before know what I was singing about

Just saw this and it reminded me of the infinite improbability drive being powered by a cup of tea

It’s always nice to read a tech/San Francisco story and not have it be dystopian in one way or another
