That was the year that they deliberately released a single every month having realised that you didn’t have to sell many copies at all to get into the top 40 wasn’t it?

Looking them up, most of them got into the top 20 and I can’t remember any of them.

Yup, they all got compiled on the hit parade album, which is a pretty solid listen. I believe they tie with Elvis for most hit singles in a year. (Although Spotify’s probably messed that record up.)

Not sure about top 40 hit, but Wikipedia states that it was “a minor alternative radio hit”
