So not necessarily your favourite series, or the best, more the one you most think you’d enjoy most with fresh eyes.
Let’s say excluding The Wire and Sopranos to make it mildly interesting.
For me it’s Mr Robot. Liked it a lot at the time bar one series which was naff (S2 or S3?). Think it might age well, and it was perfect for late night viewing.
Going to leave it a few years, though. Tried to rewatch Boardwalk Empire recently, which I loved, but just couldn’t get into it as it was too soon. Think you need to forget stuff to really get involved in a rewatch.
Currently doing this with Jersey Shore and it’s still absolutely incredible. And we recently did it for the VH1 “of love” shows too and they were just as good as the first time around (edit - also absolutely incredible, in case there was any ambiguity).
Excluding those, I’m going to go with The Leftovers for standard tv and Average Joe for reality tv. Though I don’t think I can ever forget Average Joe.
It really is. My wife and I were both led to believe it wasn’t very good and a pretty big miss from HBO, but then we tried it out of boredom 5 or 6 years ago and it blew us away. We’re just trying to forget as much as possible now. Bet it hits even harder nowadays.
