Fairly standard but prettt much exclusovely Ardbeg 10 now.

Occasionally, go back to Jura if I’m not feeling the eat.

I’m still fairly green when it comes to single malts, and can’t really handle my peat etc. but I am yet to taste anything from the balvenie which isn’t great. seem to range from ā€˜really good’ to ā€˜good lord, please take my house in exchange for several barrels’

I’m having a go on the 17 year old double cask right now. Bloody lovely stuff.

Been meaning to fire up this thread to see if anyone got anything good for Christmas. I got

Talisker 10 (ran out so replacement bottle in line with my rule upthread)
Scapa Orcadian (never heard of this before - absolute pish in my opinion. Ended up using it all for cocktails on NYE)
Glen Marnoch 29 (this is the one you get from Aldi. I’m not sure how legit it is but you know what it’s a VERY nice whisky all the same. Think it’s around Ā£40 and it’s a high quality malt for that price regardless).

Oh yeah forgot to post this bottle of Glenrothes I opened over Christmas. Distilled in 1989 and bottled in 2002. Like pure velvet :ok_hand:

Bringing the tone of the thread down somewhat but we got…
1.5 litre bottle of Jameson from my brother who got it dead cheap from his bar owning mate.
Bottle of 10 yr Laphroig lifted from the back of parents booze cupboard, it’s probably decades old but there’s no indication of when it was bottled. This will just be the same as a 10yr old bought today I assume?

Yeah whisky doesn’t age/change in the bottle. I think anyway.

Laphraoig 10 is a supreme drink and it absolutely does not bring the tone of the thread down.

The traditional bottle of Maker’s Mark from the TV’s parents (not complaining, very nice sipping whiskey that’s not too fancy to mix as well.

Wild Turkey 101 Rye from my mum - perhaps a little too spicy for me neat but goes really well in a cocktail.

Also got a Balvenie tasting set (14YO caribbean, 12YO doublewood and 17YO doublewood) which reminded me that I’d gotten something similar for my birthday, put it in a cupboard and forgotten about it. Lovely time!

I also treated myself to a bottle of Michter’s barrel-strength barrel-toasted finish rye and it is just wonderful.
