Really want to do this one but don’t know if it’d get the numbers.

7 And 7 Is, there’s some numbers right there

I reckon there are enough musical snobs and indie bellends here to give it a good go (I include myself on both counts of course). What’s the lowest turnout yet for one of these?

also some other good canon-y artists we should do

Van Morrison
Sly & The Family Stone
Patti Smith

Van and Patti are on the list. Love are a 5, obviously.

As suggested by others in the Lizzo thread, Vampire Weekend would be good.

Not up too much today so went through The Rough Guide To Rock (3rd Edition) index and can confirm there’s loads more to do. I’m not gonna list them as it’ll seem a bit OTT. I was going to PM to Funkhouser but it seems I can’t do that, I’m sure you have your references anyway.

Yo la tengo would be nice but i don’t really want to read everyone’s wrong takes on them, so

I think if it turned one pair of ears on to that album, and it is an astonishing record, it’d be a job well done.

I also think despite an overall idea of the consensus of DiS that they’d fair okay, they’re never going to top a DiS poll - but that doesn’t matter.

Dire Straits are basically Slayer crossed with Tennis.

Have we had Massive Attack?

3.89, better than Bruce

My guess is he’ll say he’s not heard any of them but still give them all a 2

Erykah Badu is a great shout. I’ll be opening a can of whoop-ass on anybody not voting 5.

wish i hadn’t turned my nose up at MCR and emo in general as a young teen, more interesting and heartfelt than the landfill indie i was into

Was big into MCR when I was in school, then in 6th form decided to be a real boy to fit in and pretended not to like that shit which is for girls. Went to Leeds Festival with The Lads and went along with them to see Liam Gallagher being like “god, imagine those long fringed freaks going to see MCR tonight, pfft. Not me!” then like a month later realised I’d made a terrible mistake and thrown away a chance to see a band I really loved to a big show that meant a lot to them, and then the broke up. A sharp lesson to young me.

Had tickets to see them in Milton Keynes (Milton bloody Keynes) this June but Covid saw to that didn’t it.

This would be a good one. You’d be really failing us to miss this!:laughing::laughing::grimacing::laughing:

I guess Tool would be interesting as they seem to have vastly opposing sides of folks who love them or hate them. A big, juicy dose of war is excellent for HGATR.

What is MCR?
