Forgot Crashland. This fucking slaps:

Have The Decemberists been done? They seem to inspire love/hate/disagreement so could be an interesting one. (Although now I’ve said that it’ll probably be a damp squib of a thread.)

And for sheer shits and giggles can we do the Beatles’ solo careers?

There was a classic when Tom Araya would yell at the crowd

DO YOU WANNA DIE!!!

Eveyone would shout back

YESSSSS!

And he would laugh and just say quietly into the mic

No you don’t

I also remember some NME scribe saying in some anniversary edition Tom Araya was the most disturbing individual he had ever interviewed. Something along the lines that he was so laid back and chilled out and couldn’t connect the dots with the lyrical content he was singing about that this was the proof
that he was a proper trippy evil dude. A true potential Hannibal Lecter.

You fucking twat. He lives on a farm with lots of animals and has kids and last time I
heard he listens to Taylor Swift because his kids are always playing them.

Yeah I’m drunk, goodnight!

Cardiacs. With an option to give them 6/5.

I love Slayer but I wouldn’t give them a 5.

Probably I’d only give Aphex a 5. I don’t like Syro but have no doubt he could be working on an album right now that would be a 5.

There are bands worthy of a 5 but their back catalogue and long history might knock a point off. Thinking about it Boards of Canada could be 5.

Anyway I’m 5 out of 5 pissed

Slayer should have a 6 option too.

That way rating may read from 3 different scores in a row: 6, 6, 6.

I thought about this also. With a lot of bands that eek out longer careers because it pays (cynical but kinda true) you could mark some down if thier peaks where good rather that outstanding. However when any band make an album of perfection (subjective I know), a lot becomes forgivable - because without them - that slice of perfection wouldn’t be there.

Ooh, I forgot Earth. Now there’s a stone cold nailed on 5

Just a bit more classic metal (maiden/sabbath mainly  ) and a bit more hardcore (talking loosely here - Fugazi/Crass/Converge/Misfits etc)

Some more electronic stuff also. Has there been a squarepusher one? Brian Eno maybe.

Would be great fun to get into Odd Future’s importance/legacy, as we probably all have very specific experiences with them but then it would include Frank Ocean and he really deserves his own.
