Yeah, same.

I was well good at sprinting in my teens, represented all sorts. From memory the 100m PB was 10.86? 200m was about 22.

Then…cigarettes! Alcohol!

Oasis fucked us all up.

I was mostly kidding, but in all seriousness most athletics facilities are hireable, BUT, they won’t usually let you mess around with some of the equipment unless you have trained people available to make sure it’s used properly/safely - high jump, javelin etc.

got to be a cyclist or aphex the climbing man right?

Was actually about that time tbh - 96-97

Are you still faster than a cannonball?

i’d fancy my chances on a 100m standing start

Think we have a winner - 10.86 is really, really quick. I ran England Schools 100m at U16 and my PB was 10.97. Reckon I’d probably do it in about 17 flat these days, though

are you clipped in, getting a push off?

clipped in, track stand

In my varied experience sprinting against bikes the human wins over 50m then the bike catches up, probably end up about even

DiS Bike wankers all lined up ready to go

When was that? I did it in…er…the mid-90s!

Think those southern softies are scared of a Sheffield rematch

In 1993. Got absolutely smoked too - my first time racing in London (went to school in the North East and competed up there mainly). Kid who won it ran 10.4 something. Pretty much gave up sprinting on the spot!

@83746725 that’s really quick

My school’s record was 11.95 on a grass track, timed by some guy with a stopwatch. There’s no way that’s a legitimate record. Best I ever did, on the same track, was about 12.5.

Remember the first day at a new primary school I beat the fastest sprinter to become the new top boy. All the girls were suddenly dead keen on me, honest

Was a bit surprised no one thought to mention you before tbqfh, though I have always pegged you as more of a 400m guy.
