I haven’t tried it in years but I was the same as yourself, found the whole exercise deeply boring, along with the people who did it. I figure I could definitely take up race walking now that I’m in my thirties though. Seems like a good way to meditate.

So, when are we booking Picketts Lock and finding out?

Can we actually? Can we get a bunch of other athletics/Olympic style events set up for us all to try for the first time in an untrained and dangerously competitive way?

Same. I’m very unbendy

I’d be comedically shit at anything involving jumping, running or throwing.

I was low 11s, occasionally high 10s pre disastrous knee injury, would be lucky to hit a low 12 these days

I was a reasonably fast 9-13 year old and ran for greater manchester but that was a very long time ago!

I’ll put you down for the Throw-Jump Sprints.

I’d definitely attend a DiS sports day. Reckon the 100m and the egg and spoon are mine for the taking.

Just remembered I can’t swim for shit either, so could you move me to underwater throw-jump sprints?

Yeah, same.

I was well good at sprinting in my teens, represented all sorts. From memory the 100m PB was 10.86? 200m was about 22.

Then…cigarettes! Alcohol!

Oasis fucked us all up.

I was mostly kidding, but in all seriousness most athletics facilities are hireable, BUT, they won’t usually let you mess around with some of the equipment unless you have trained people available to make sure it’s used properly/safely - high jump, javelin etc.

got to be a cyclist or aphex the climbing man right?
