Why do people in this country like to fetishize the

1940s and 50s?
Not even sure it’s a jingoistic war thing.
There’s a whole festival thing near me this weekend. Why? Why not the 60s,70s,1890s?
War rations, shitting outside in sheds, tins of stuff.
Grow up.

  • I agree
  • What?!
  • Omg I LOVE that era!!11

Does my head in, mate.

Ooh a wartime, vintage singing trio and some lindy hop!

Couldn’t pay me to go to an event like that

One of the few big problems with Gilmore Girls tbh

Can’t really see it continuing once all the old people who lived through it and their children die off.

I also hate the trousers

who has fond memories of the 40s and 50s nowadays though. They’re all dead already. Where are these 40/50s fetishists coming from? time travel. We don’t know.

People can like whatever they like and sneering at it makes me worse but it’s nice to do it every now and then.

just more a case of why not being really into the…1870s? 1980s? and having a festival for it in my town

Some people like those eras as well I think but it’s rare to see it at a village fete or whatever.

40s 50s 60s 80s 90s and 2000s fetishized, seems like 70s is the only one missing really

Just sit in the dark with all the electricity turned off

seems more noticable with the 40s and 50s stuff because it’s usually based on events and dressing up whereas 80s and 90s have permeated everything, all movies and tv shows since the 80s have basically been set in the 80s

in fact it could be argued that we are still living in the 80s now
