I bought these. Left them at home yesterday. Today I used them at lunchtime and they were decent. No drop outs (only listened to podcast).

why the fuck are the cases for these things such a sticking point? seem like most of the review for some reason.

just want some decent wireless, fairly waterproof earbuds.

thinking about getting the melomania 1s. anyone have them?

At a guess - and assuming the case review focus isn’t rooted in charging - most early adopters of tech or this tech in particular probably made the initial leap with an eye on aesthetics too, so it will have been a key consideration. I’m not saying that’s bad, nothing wrong with caring how something looks (and if you’re an early adopter you probably have to spend more so it matters more) but that is likely to have shaped reviews after.

Got so fucked off with how little use I get out of mine on a single charge that I’ve gone back to my crappy wired ones (when I can’t use my nice Sennheiser headphones).

Because they are the biggest footprint, as wireless buds can only offer a fraction of the headphones u tend to need to carry them everywhere with you so need to be well built. Especially as ear buds are easily lost and broken

I now have to carry with me (1) standard bluetooth earphones (2) backup Apple lightning earphones for when (1) runs out of battery and (3) 3.5mm jack old style earphones for my tablet as (1) and (2) don’t work with it.

What a beautiful futuristic world we live in.

Guy at work got the new AirPods and I gave them a go. Got to say, the noise cancelling it really impressive for something so tiny. £250 though!

UPDATE:

Never so much as taken them out of the office. Might actually be the worst things I’ve ever owned.

Bought some Sony WF-1000XM3 the other day. Really impressed with the sound quality. Highly recommended for wireless earphones at about the £140 mark.

really happy with my Melomania 1s. in fact, one of the best purchases I’ve made over the past couple of years. Fit, and sound quality are exceptional. battery life too. look innocuous and have survived a year of near daily use including runs and gym.

I got these at the beginning of lockdown (on eBay) and they’re great, unlike the v1 which had such a poor connection I was on the verge of returning them*

*(but I didn’t, because I got pissed and fell asleep on the tube and lost one)

These mothers broke so got some Jabra 65T. Seem decent.

You will be pleased to learn that the plastic tip of my Plantronix Bluetooth Headset has broken, and briefly got stuck in my ear.

Pleased? Delighted.
