Told this before, but the only one I remember was at the town library. I wore a smart jumper and trousers on my first day but didn’t know if they wanted me in a shirt and tie, so asked the boss guy and he said what I had on was fine.

In my report at the end of the week he wrote that I hadn’t dressed smartly enough. Cunt.

Worked for my MP year before my A Levels, was tosh
Worked for my local library two years prior, wasn’t completely unpleasant and got a summer job out of it
Overall: fine/10

Never did it. Started working at sixteen.

guitar shop

week 1 - sat on a box wishing I had the courage to ask to play the guitars and occasionally defending my love of Oasis to the guy who ran the shop whenever he bothered to talk to me (slag Oasis off).

week 2 - played guitars all week.

I did my work experience in the Courage office in Staines. roles included stamping things with today’s date, making sure things added up and re-orderring some of their files in alphabetical order as the last person they had to do this couldn’t get the hang of it and did it wrong. got to spend a day ordering stuff in an attic, that was fun.

main benefit was getting money for lunch, with which I went to KFC every day. plus I didn’t have to go to school for a week, so all good from me.

Snap I did a week at the local newspaper with a journalist blokenwho was a neighbour. It was really boring for most of the week (going to police station to get details of petty crime to report etc) but the highlight was right at the end when the midget Noel Edmonds landed his helicopter at a local school for some sort of unveiling/opening of new school equipment or something. Got to sit in on that interview which brought a twinge of interest. My only other memory of the whole experience was going to Our Price in my lunch break to buy Ill Communication by the Beastie Boys which had just been released that week.
