The woman i sit next to continuously refers to our boss as the ‘‘manageress’’.

She also just said she doesnt like .com websites because they’re not British.

Someone I don’t like has come in wearing the exact same outfit as me on dress down day. The manager who started a couple of weeks ago has really nailed his colours to the mast and come in in a Cryptopsy t-shirt, so it’s not all bad.

The men in my office all wear basically the same outfit every day

i did this a while ago when me and another person both wore a black and white striped top and black jeans. she’s currently on sabbatical in the US and i can only assume this incident was the driving force for leaving.

what is the outfit in question?

Plain sky blue t-shirt, blue jeans and black Sambas. Appreciate none of these are uncommon clothing choices but they are all exactly the same. Going to avoid him all day.

tremendous, do you think he’s realised?

Quite possibly. Fortunately he’s far too awkward to say anything.

the lazy weird bastard i’ve mentioned before decided to take a 25 minute break. work was piling up. something came in that the LWB is responsible for today but they weren’t around to do it. i was like oh lord here we go. everyone on my team started bitching about LWB, and then LWB, who’d been lurking out of sight in these high backed booths we have, popped their head up and…i don’t how to describe it…kind of shrieked some gibberish across the office to shut everyone up. genuinely disturbing behaviour. 5 mins later LWB returned to their desk but rolled their chair back so everyone could see them pissing about on their phone and not doing work. now everyone has to pretend LWB didn’t just shriek insane gibberish in a busy office environment and isn’t being a gigantic toddler.

LWB is notorious even amongst the other departments on our floor (it’s an open plan office). the only good thing is i don’t bitch about colleagues anywhere but on DiS and to the mrs so i’m not feeling awkward. i am a bit scared tho, and disgusted that management, who are all in today and can see what is happening, have yet again wussed out of saying anything due to LWB being untouchable due to whatever.

irked status: rising, but i’m also kind of amused

tension is proper building, it’s all going to kick off soon i think

just popped over to see if LWB was okay, they seem happier for someone coming to chat so that’s a fire put out i guess.

meanwhile on my desk two of the people leading the backbiting are both trying to take charge, because they want the manager’s role that will be advertised soon, so they’re kind of auditioning for the gaffers who are in today. but it’s devolved into them making pass-agg comments about each other. lol so pathetic, we just cracked on and rejigged a few things and it’s all a lot smoother atm.

haha they’re still bickering.

Nothing better than an eavesdropper not hearing good of themselves.

Definitely agree with this. Not to pile-on (though I think it’s a positive pile-on?) but if you can afford to leave then do!

I think you’re being overly worried about the affect a gap in your CV will have. The negative impact the job is having on your mental health is far more damaging than any small gap, and you’ve said before that you struggle to look for other work currently as this job drains you so much. It’s not like you have to be off for 6 months or something - you could have a few weeks to recover and then just try to jump into something temporary and casual if you really don’t want there to be a gap in employment

I was exaggerating and not being entirely serious when I said that, and I’m sorry, that was a stupid and rudiculous thing to say looking back.

I once worked with a fellow who wore the same suit/shirt/tie combo every day, the tie was always the same knot and the shirt not so nice. It was a casual office as well. Very strange behaviour

I wear the same suit to work every day, with one of a number of identical white shirts. I cycle my ties through the week: the two best ones on Monday and Tuesday and my purple “Friday tie” on Thursdays now that we have dressdown Fridays.

I started wearing a suit when I first moved to London, when it was a lot more “the way things were done”. I do it now out of habit, but you shouldn’t underestimate the significance of it. In general people do take you more seriously when you dress like that, even if they would swear blind that they don’t.

Oh christ on downtime ATM and I want to claw my eyes out with a hdmi cable
