Oh I also met a man once who told me all about his internet dating spreadsheet - claimed he needed it to keep track of all the women he was seeing, how many dates they had had, remind himself of what they did etc cos he couldn’t keep track.

Ron Howard voice: he didn’t need to keep track of them, because there were no women.

I’ve seen that actual spreadsheet.

There was one of these people on here as well. Oh, people you are the worst

Idk if this what the thread is for but I leave the house at 7:15am and get back between 6pm and half past depending on how quickly the commute goes. Is this bad? I feel like I never have any fucking free time and I’m constantly tired and feel like I can’t do stuff in the evenings, but I was moaning to my dad about this and he said that’s just how everybody lives so deal with it.

Even if it were how everyone lives you could still be irked about it due to the system that makes us work and travel so much. However, for my job and commute, if i left at 7.15 I’d expect to be home no later than 4.45 on average

Yeah I am being done, ta.

I like where I work but I’m trying to justify applying for jobs in the city centre purely because I would cut my commute in half, I’ve been told that reasoning is childish.

Nah it’s as good a reason as any - commutes should matter as much as pay, holiday, flexi time as factors in considering a job. Obviously on your commute you can read rather than having to work, but it’s still not proper “free time”, so suddenly all your pay goes to basically cover an 11 hour work day rather than the 8/9 hours I’d assume you’re actually contracted for. So if you can get a job that pays something similar but gives you an extra 5-10 hours of free time a week, why on earth wouldn’t you want to try that.

I used to have an hour bus ride each way for a job where I worked 6 hour shifts, and have now switched to a 20 min walk - the improvement is pretty significant.

I leave for work at 8:30 and get home by 5:20.

It isn’t how everyone lives.

Thing about working in a city as opposed to some dismal ring road office or retail park is you can do things after work. I can go to the cinema or a pub or to the shops or for dinner straight from work etc etc if I want. Not just going from home to work and back again and then trying to summon up the energy to do anything else.

Also, means you can save time after work by using your lunch break to do your shopping or go to the gym or post office or whatever, never mind that it’s just infinitely better to have anywhere at all to escape to on lunch.

Some non city jobs also have access to a supermarket, post office and gym.

My boss thinks it’s really funny to play music from her phone and sing along badly on purpose. It’s not funny.

Mehodor! He was an odd sort.

As a counterpoint, I used to have a 20 min walk to my old woek, now have an hour to walk in. It’s pretty terrible

Thighs of steel though surely at least
