One more, The Mars Volta’s Bedlam in Goliath.
Absolutely ridiculous running album once you get a feel for it. Used to run to this in the summer and basically go blind during the second half of Goliath.

Keep meaning to make a compilation playlist of all the very banging-est dancey choons I’ve loved for this very purpose. Might do that tonight.
Had a good run to this yesterday
And regularly listen to this
Other than that, stuff like Four Tet, Moderat, Pantha du Prince, The Field if I’m feeling strong enough to zone out, but more usually Charli XCX, Megan Thee Stallion, SOPHIE, Princess Nokia, Danny Brown if I’m needing energy.
XYU is excellent for the gym I find
Absolutely. That scream that accelerates things in the second half always had me sprinting, it’s like being launched into a wall.
My list
Aesop Rock is a favourite, his last couple of records in particular are good to lose the brainbox in
also have a couple of genre playlists, this probably the best for that massive backbeat snare to keep things moving along
I wear the Aftershox headphones when am running or cycling. Don’t really like listening to music with them so i just listenv to podcasts. They’re a great way of distracting yourself from your exertions.
Can be a bit weird if you’re running and laughing out loud (e.g. with Off Menu) but it’s nice running while listening to other people chatting whilst running (Running Commentary podcast).
Genuinely:
Pretty much the only time i get to really blast loud angry music in the house is when i workout. Really look forward to it and have made workout playlists for the following bands…
Girls Against Boys
DAF
Killing Joke
The Icarus Line
Neu!
Stooges ‘Funhouse’ is also a good album to workout to. When i do some skipping i find ‘Suicide’ by Spacemen 3, ‘Mother Sky’ by Can, and ‘Hero’ by Neu! to be a good run of tracks. Have, on occasion, just put the spacemen 3 track on repeat 3 times. proper hypnotic.
Got a huge playlist with loads of propulsive, repetitive rock tunes (The Fall, PiL, Metz, Primal Scream, Ministry, Motorhead etc…)
Fucked Up and Fuck Buttons are regulars for me.
I started trying to summarise my gym playlist but it really is anything and everything. Probably won’t get the DiS seal of approval but it works for me
I used to listen to dance mixes but I got really bored. So I have gone to bands now. Stereolab are great! (This playlist isn’t mine but I am borrowing it: Spotify)
Sparks are also surprisingly great. (Again, not my playlist: Spotify
Podcasts.
Opeth
At The Drive-In
Podcasts
If i listen to really fast or heavy stuff when I’m working out then i start to feel like I can’t breathe and am about to die
Post hardcore stuff like the armed works really well though yeah. Adding to list
