My ATD and future bae Thingy Schram started in goal for MIGHTY ICELAND last night and they BRAVELY and SUPERBLY came from behind to lead against Norway thanks to MAGNIFICENT and CLINICAL goals. Nothing interesting happened in the last ten minutes.

Wait, this isn’t their shirt.

It’s from a “concept” range.

I’ve been done.

(TBH all these AIRO concept shirts look cool as fuck)

Here’s the squad list for the mighty Socceroos : Goalkeepers: Brad Jones (Feyenoord), Mat Ryan (Brighton), Danny Vukovic (Genk).
Defenders: Aziz Behich (Bursaspor), Milos Degenek (Yokohama F. Marinos), Matthew Jurman (Suwon Samsung Blue Wings), James Meredith (Millwall), Josh Risdon (Western Sydney), Trent Sainsbury (Grasshopper Zurich).
Midfielders: Jackson Irvine (Hull City), Mile Jedinak (Aston Villa), Robbie Kruse (VfL Bochum), Massimo Luongo (QPR), Mark Milligan (Al-Ahli), Aaron Mooy (Huddersfield), Tom Rogic (Celtic), Tim Cahill (Millwall).
Forwards: Daniel Arzani (Melbourne City), Tomi Juric (Luzern), Mathew Leckie (Hertha Berlin), Andrew Nabbout (Urawa Red Diamonds), Dimitri Petratos (Newcastle Jets), Jamie Maclaren (Hibernian).

The biggest take away from that is that 38 year old Tim Cahill has been selected and when he inevitably scores he’ll join Pele, Klose and Uwe Seeler in scoring in 4 World Cups!

Does he still punch the corner flag when he scores or has he grown out of that?

Amazing goal. Perfection. Even hits the crossbar on the way in.

I’d like to think he’s grown out of it but we’ll see when he scores against France.

Wallop! I can’t be bothered checking all the others but that’s 12 different countries the ‘Roos have been drawn from, giving them a strong chance of being the most globetrotting squad on display, which is the real quiz after all.

Straya, mate!

The best shirts were the ones yer mam brought back from holiday, clearly bought off a market, which had a label that said something like ‘Top Sports’ instead of Nike or Adidas.

Looked the part with your Rockpool or Timberforest boots.

Some Argentina notes for you all to get acquainted with Jorge Sampaoli’s La Albiceleste

23-man squad:

Strengths: you’ve all probably heard of that Messi kid, right? He’s pretty great. If he and the rest of the mostly experienced strike force are on form, Argentina will be pretty hard to stop.
Weakness: uncertainty. Sampaoli has been tinkering a lot, with over 30 players not in the squad who have been in the team in the past year and lots of changes in formation used also.

Qualifying was pretty average, and a 6-1 friendly defeat to Spain earlier in the year was concerning. But as mentioned above, you can’t rule them out with Messi.

Kits are nice as ever, with the interesting note that the away kit is their first ever black kit, as opposed to the traditional dark blue. Also the sky blue stripes on the home shirt are not solid colour, instead featuring a texture to bring to mind wispy clouds.

Happy to research further any questions people have.

Vamos, vamos Argentina!
