World Cup 2026 Day 27 - 🇦🇷 vs 🇪🇬 // 🇨🇭 vs 🇨🇴

The thing with this, that has irrevocably shaped the black humour approach that most of the City fans on here have, is that aside from the late 60s and early 70s when we were genuinely very good, we’ve been generally found the most ridiculous ways possible to be so bad as to never have bottling it become a potential issue.

It’s only since the richer “traditional” clubs with all their “history” drove the concentration of wealth and prestige at the top end of the game to a point it became so ridiculous that a nation state decided it could use it to sports wash its image and bought us out, that we’ve entered into this conversation.

The underdog thing is cos of Brexit imo. Made everyone feel like the UK is a little smol bean adrift from the world even though it’s still a huge economic powerhouse with an incomparable post imperial cultural footprint

I’m also guilty of it, got politely called out by a Turkish friend when I was complaining about UK politics being fucked the other day

also made us a laughing stock, especially in mainland Europe, for voluntarily totally fucking ourselves. which adds to the underdog mentality
