Have I missed a poll where we talk about the World Cup we enjoyed the most or watched the most of
The month of the 2014 World Cup was like the worst month of my life but the World Cup probably saved me from doing anything drastic. watched every single minute I possibly could, made the top 40 of the Mirror’s fantasy football competition out of like a quarter mil after the first round (banked on Colombia smashing their group, Rodriguez in attack. Was absolutely cooking on gas. Also predicted Spain and England to go out in the groups), Braaazil Braaaziiiiil on repeat, didn’t even care that much about England’s pathetic exit, 7-1 Germany Brazil… what a tournament. I don’t actually know if it was that good but I had a wonderful time, despite having an absolutely terrible time outside of that.
I have had a lovely time this World Cup too although am slightly disappointed we don’t have more shock quarter finalists.

Shock quarter finalists are nice BUT it’s been a while since the semi finals have been (arguably) the four strongest teams in the world at that time. Maybe this would be an exception…but often if unfancied teams get to the semis it feels like they run out of steam and their games are damp squibs.

Yeah, because there’s been some boring matches. And some great ones too. It’s just now it’s just mostly big teams and the likeliness of upsets, the only good thing about major tournaments, has massively decreased. It’s not rocket science.

This is my favourite World Cup ever so far, no exaggeration. The only thing that will prevent that being the case after the final is if every knockout game is

The excitement level for this World Cup has been pretty high. Not many duff matches.

Plus it’s really high quality. The golden boot race shows this but you’ve also got other creative players (Olise, Bellingham, Manzambi) really turning up too. So many good goals also.

But that will never happen. Three bumdingers, that’s possible. Five bumdingers, there’s an outside chance. But eight bumdingers… I’d like to see that!
