I’m running a real risk tbh mate, I did get an “it’s fine if you don’t want to come, it’s up to you” and it’s one of the only times I’ve ever accepted that statement…

“If you want to watch the football, then that’s absolutely fine…”

“Sweet. Thanks for being so understanding”

Oof, the passive aggression is literally dripping off that statement

Wonder if some of you people are playing your cards a bit to early. Could end up having to miss a couple of blooters later on when your boyfriend/girlfriend’s fairly point out you’ve swerved several things to watch football. I think i’d be planting the “it’s not like it’s a knockout game…let’s go for lunch” line to plant the seed.

I’m actually at work for most games so it’s only the weekends she feels agitated by the incessant background crowd noise

plus, she’ll start getting into it if Sweden start well

Did anyone mention the absolute state of the alerts from the official World Cup © app?

think it’ll just be Germany - Mexico for me today unfortunately, but very optimistic about the likelihood of it being a humdinger

please for the love of God tell me Lawro isn’t on it

Looks like he’s gotten the Brazil beat.

although I’m not working today I have band practice all day but hoping to schedule a break around Germany vs Mexico (or at the very least, stick it on in the background)

Do people like it when players names are pronounced properly or do you prefer them to be anglicized?

I noticed when in Portugal that people don’t pronounce the vowels on the end of lots of names - ‘Cristian Ronald’, etc, and have heard a couple of pundits calling Pepe ‘Pep’, and some of the Brazilian players seem to be pronounced a lot harsher than in English - Cou-chino, Dan-ch at the last one, etc.

I feel like a bit of a twat doing it, but think we should and that. Easy to look a bit like Moyesy having a stroke, though, innit?

Need to suck the fun out of Brazil.

I’ll be watching the lot today, haven’t missed any so far. I’ll miss at least half of Belgium vs. Panama tomorrow though as I have physio :frowning:
