I don’t think anyone is arguing that defenders aren’t allowed to defend physically. Obvious grappling is the mischief that needs to be clamped down on.

Henderson has a thing about him where he starts a game playing really sensibly. First 40 minutes or so last night he was excellent. Then either through growing into the game a bit or getting desperate he started knocking silly passes that weren’t really on. Generally he was decent and is the best option we have for that position against weak teams by miles

Yeah, was quite impressed with Henderson’s positivity in getting the ball forward sensibly last night, particularly in the first half.

Re: VAR, something that people (not necessarily in this thread) still don’t seem to be grasping is that the VAR officials are pretty much in a state of constant review, and that they let the ref know if there’s something worth checking. Still seems to be this narrative that individual moments need to be referred to them, or vice-versa. Think it’s been pretty good so far though!

It’s definitely a plus to not supporting a team with a player in the England squad.

I don’t blame people for it – they’ve spent an entire season criticising a player’s passing choices etc.

It’s very sensible not viewing everything through your particular club allegiance lens

This is NOT the thread for balanced analysis of England players m9…

Fucking loved watching Maguire marauding forward last night, like an overgrown Just William who’s just watched a youtube of Beckenbauer.

As a Palace fan I thought Loftus-Cheek ran the show last night, even when he was on the bench, and everyone else was utter gashbags tbh tbf…

Had never thought about it before the anthems last night, but the phrase “Send her victorious” is a bloody clunky bit of English isn’t it?

I mean, it’s not in the top ten worst things about GSTQ, but still.

He was very articulate and humble in his post-match interview too. Accepted some elements of what he was asked to do is not natural for him, or a part of his club game.

He’s a good lad

Hate to tell you he’s a Chelsea player, then

Yup, back to being shit

With that name, he’s destined for QPR.

Or New York City (reuben/Ruben. Nah this doesn’t work)

Samurai Blue back in action today :japan:

They’ve had a rough time of late not only in regards to football but also due to a recent earthquake and early hotel alarms

Hopefully they can turn it around today :jp:

Hard last couple of choices, imo.

  • Yellow, royal blue and red stripes. Vibrant and just plain nice to look at
  • Red rising sun on a white background. Incredibly simple and immediately recognisable, slays most other flag designs completely dead
