This is great. Really interesting stuff!

Cornwall should get a team together.

Woah!

There’s talk of Yorkshire entering the next one.

Ha! Nice.

I also have a ticket for this but I’m currently feeling quite rough so may well end up binning it off.

We’ve got our final friendly against Bolivia at 5 pm GMT/11 CT

Stats & Facts

  • This will be the first time the two sides have faced each other.
  • Dusan Tadić contributed to 11 goals in qualifying, scoring four and assisting seven.
  • Bolivia lost more games than any other South American side in qualifying.
  • Serbia pissed a group featuring Republic of Ireland and Wales.

Betting Odds

Sweden v Peru tonight

Los Incas are on a five game win streak and will surely make mincemeat of the Europeans. Two gooooaaal hero Guerro plays his 2nd match since getting his dope ban lifted. Expect gooooaaals galore!!!

*Bookies say 0-0 most favoured result

Matic has been imperious so far against the 9th best team in all of South America.
Ljajic and Tadic linking quite beautifully for the second to put the Eagles 2-0 up.

It’s very much (as the cliche goes) a question of getting through the match without injuries, whilst playing at a decent enough tempo to make it worth while. So far, so good.

Tunisia continue their world cup preparations tonight, with a 19:45 kick off against Spain at the Stadion FK Krasnodar in Krasnodar, five times winner of Oblast and Steppe Magazine’s ‘best place to live (presumably in Russia)’ award, and the unofficial southern capital.

Krasnodar Stadium recently.

Les Aigles are on an impressive 9 match unbeaten streak, and no doubt Spain have been OK too. Someone can correct this if they can be arsed, but the best I can get from Google is that the two teams have only met once before, during the group stage of the 2006 World Cup- as we all no doubt remember, Tunisia ran up 6 yellow cards in the match and went on to lose 3-1.

Great opening goal though.

At the time of writing, the starting line-up has yet to be announced to the associated press. However, it’s widely hoped that tonight’s match will see inspirational captain Wahbi Khazri return to action following an injury of some description, which for a time looked like keeping him out of the tournament.

Les Aigles, hanging out recently.

According to the old cream cookies, the odds of Les Aigles winning this match are pretty great for anyone who fancies a flutter (between 10 and 12/1 for the most part), so get on it.

Further Tunisian news from myself and @rich-t (parental duties allowing), as and when it happens. Or a little while after, anyway.

Iran

It’s been coming, Ivanovic with the 4th. Bit of a statement.

*checks who the likely semi final opponents will be *

You’ll be pleased to know they did win today, scoring one goal. Assist for @drastic_measures confirmed.

My boys the Swiss dicked Japan 2-0 last night. Just hope that my fellow Swiss can be none racist and get over having a multicultural team where hardly anyone sings the national anthem

Howay the lads

Anyone watched any of those history channel docs? Any good.

The Socceroos finish their World Cup preparations with a 2 - 1 win over Hungary. There was literally nothing of note in the game until the last 15 minutes. The Australian wonderkid Daniel Arzani scored within a minute of coming on and then in the last minute Sainsbury put the ball past Brad Jones with no pressure on him at all. Hungary must’ve thought they’d drawn the game but Kadar who also had no pressure on him decided to nutmeg his keeper and hand the Socceroos the victory in the final minute.
We play France in our opening group game on the 16th and if we play like this then we’re in for an absolute shellacking.

A deserved lap of honour for the boys. Can’t help feeling that there will be another lap of honour in July.

Are you watching this match?

Pretty flat 1st half. Swedish commentators constantly tickled by the Peru #10 Farfan. His name sounds very close to the Swedish idiom ‘fy fan’ which, roughly translated, means ‘for fuck’s sake’
