Turkey is awful, isn’t it. people basically never eat it the rest of the year, and for good reason. even when people say its been basted and brined properly etc, its still dry and pointless.

Mince pies - more or less shit.

Yep. Takes an unbelievable amount of effort to bring it up to the baseline quality of chicken, which itself is maybe the 4th best roast dinner meat anyway
Mulled wine - fine if drunk outdoors next to a bonfire or something on a rare occasion, but essentially shit

Lebkuchen - non-Bundesliga hipsters started pretending it was a christmas thing around 2013. waste of time.

Brussels sprouts – they’ve undergone an unwarranted reappraisal in recent years as people make a grab for Christmas indie points by pretending they’re good (normally by recommending that they’re cooked in goose fat or something so that they stop tasting like brussels sprouts) but they’re shit. They were always shit.

Err, can’t there be a middle option?
I’m afraid not. Only committed bread sauce love/hate allowed here.
Sprouts are great but turn terrible when overcooked. Best in a stir fry imho, but boiled sprouts can be fine so long as they’re not left for half an hour with the potatoes.
Very fun-filled and interesting thread IMO
Roasted sprouts are a lovely, lovely thing imo
that overpriced spanish ham that comes with a little novelty stand, absolute waste of everyone’s time

Shred sprouts and sauté in lots of butter with garlic, and leeks, stir peas in. Chuck a chilli in too if you fancy.
