Think the worst kind of pub is the type with mumsy decor and terrible acoustic live lounge music covers. In that category, The Wrens Hotel in Leeds and Telegraph Bar in Newcastle

Broad range of how good and bad a Spoons can be, and then you’ve got the starey intimidating places, but none of those can be as bad as those

Yates’s are all uniformly awful too

Used to work at a call centre in Wythenhawe and round there it was a cavalcade of the worst, most depressing pubs i’ve ever seen. Can’t recall any names.

The Distillery in Camden. Think it’s shut now, but last time I was there, they’d run out of beer. You fucking what?

Cork and Bottle in Paignton. Looked like a craft-beer place from the outside but the only beers on were Carling, John Smiths and Guinness. They played a weird mix of easy-listening, Status Quo and Screamo metal whilst we were there. Finally the bar-man looked like he was there against his will and was actually chained to the bar or something. 1/10

My girlfriend and I drove past this place a few months back. It looked grim enough from the outside that we looked up some reviews online - The best was someone who was given a glass marked with two different shades of lipstick.

I used to work for Barclays in the 90s and they have a computer centre in Wythenshawe. The staff were told to take off their ties if they popped out for lunch as there had been cases of people in suits being beaten up. Also local kids used to lob bricks etc over the (very high) wall around the car park hoping for the smash of a windscreen or two. Lovely place.

I walked to it once knowing nothing of the place. It had the general decor of a youth detention centre and the customers were either future, recent past or distant past visitors to some sort of detention centre or other. Grim. Only woman in there was the barmaid and she looked as though she could handle herself.
