I;ve never heard Your Bloody Valentine by My Bloody Valentine…I imagine it would be a track from that but from the rest of the discography I’d probably go for one of the instrumental no.2 or no.1 from the EPs…the former starting quite intriguingly with an…ahem…phat drum loop…and some moody synth but not really developing beyond a quite dull semi-trip hop effort…instrumental no.1 is just an average almost teenage bedroom rawk freakout…neither are bad per se but are mediocre moments in an stellar catalogue

Actually Monkey and Bear is one of my faves. That said they are all one of my faves on Ys. I think it starts off slow and a little annoying. But is a lovely story and builds really well. Has some fantastic harp playing too

La Tristessa is my.most hated by them. His voice is awful in it

Finding it really hard to pick a least favourite Sleater-Kinney song. I’d probably go with something off their self-titled because it feels more like a collection of songs rather than an actual album

feel like I’m remembering the wrong tune, haha! It was that one-off single wasn’t it… an old song finally recorded in the early noughties.

The last thing they put out I believe

This is a pretty poor song

because I heard the tom jones and cardigans version first and absolutely hated it throughout my youth.

…yep…that’s the one!..it seems to share some DNA with Waiting Room

After re-listening it’s not as bad as I remember. I like the middle 8/solo bit, and the multi Ian vocals in the second half. Some pretty good Brendan flair. But the main riff really reminds me of RATM. Interested to know what you and @Severed799 would suggest as an alternative.

Dunno if I really have one that comes to mind, probably something off 13 Songs or Steady Diet as I listen to them the least

Apart from KYEO, all the songs on Steady Diet pretty much merge into one less-than-memorable lump.

It’s their Revolution No 9 @Icarus-Smicarus

Most of my favourite bands have done so many songs and b-sides it’s a bit like shooting fish in a barrel. I mean @Otto mentions Pop is Dead but I’d take that over the inconsequential murmurings of the likes of You Never Wash Up After Yourself or Coke Babies ;-).

May have reached peak DiS with someone citing Nirvana as their favourite band and Smells Like Teen Spirit as their worst song @Raanraals

Elbow aren’t necessarily my all time favourite band but they’ve been incredibly consistent over the years.

Open Arms from ‘Build A Rocket Boys’ isn’t great - it comes across as a forced attempt to write another One Day Like This - the chorus is bolted awkwardly onto the verse with neither really belonging in the compay of each other. Saved a little by some nice instrumentation in parts maybe?

No redeeming features for The River from the same album though. First time on a record of theirs that I thought what the hell is this? Can’t understand why they ever included what’s a weak b-side at best - drab melody/arrangement and some heavy handed lyrics, “he openly wept as he listened to me.” Jeez.

I’d largely agree with @TKC on this tbh

Likewise…I am struggling with this one…there are a few tracks on In On Kill Taker and Red Medicine I can take or leave but nothing I actively dislike…testament to their quality as a band
