@sean I think the issue was people being able to edit OTHER PEOPLE’s posts? I don’t think the 3 min edit thing was an issue it’s just that regulars were being given the right to one edit on any other post every 24 hours.

Surely given all the options available in Discourse, this must be one of them.

I just use it for those “…oh, and…” or “googled it now and…” moments.

Don’t want others to have the ability to edit the titles of topics that i started though. EH, PN? safety wink

There are a bajillion different options. I don’t have 3 days to block out to go through them all to find the right combination without massively curtailing people’s usage.

The thing is, there’s no ‘allow users to edit each other’s posts’ option. There is just a tonne of different options for each different trust level and options on different sections to allow editing of your own posts and stuff like that.

DiS lasted for 16 years without anyone being able to edit anything, perhaps we don’t need to evolve? The idea that anyone can edit someone else’s post is wrong, and shouldn’t be a function on here. Fair enough if mods or admins can do it, but not everyone.

I can imagine that there are enough options to do your head in. I don’t feel too strongly about who can edit what, you’ll get complaints whatever. Having everyone being able to edit everyone else’s posts does that it could cause fun and also games later.

I was only joking about curtailing particular people’s rights (except for sexybum’s)
